KENSHO SCROLLS
The titles of the pieces all include the word “kensho”, which is a Zen phrase referring to experiences of seeing the true nature of things, the path to achieving enlightenment.
Presented as scrolls for contemplation, they are realized in diverse materials including Japanese washi paper and gold, silver and other metallic leaf papers, expressing the different dimensions of our experiences of the beautiful moments in our lives. Each image is created in a given size and material only once, making it a unique piece resonating with the idea of ichigo-ichie, “one time, one meeting” celebrating the singularity of each moment, embodied with particular clarity in the aesthetics of the Way of Tea.
見性掛け軸
作品タイトルの「KENSHO」とは、禅語の「見性成仏」の「見性」からきており、物事の本性をみぬく体験を指しています。
対面する掛け軸として、作品は瞑想道具のようなものであると考えています。作品たちは和紙や金箔、銀箔の箔押紙等、様々な素材で制作され、私たちの生活の中の美しい瞬間の体験の異なる面を捉え表現しています。各画像は一つのサイズと素材で一回のみ制作されるので、お茶の湯で提唱される「一合一会」の概念とも共鳴するユニーク・ピースです。
